My First Dollar

Last night was an exciting night. Thanks to Rob, Lisa, and Luke, I have officially started my journey. They gave me my first $3!!! I may be less than 1% toward my goal, but the eagerness of my friends to help me on my quest gives me hope. It give me hope that I will be able to get the plane, the pilot, the day-trip to the beach, and the party for a perfect proposal, but it's showing me that through it all, I may be building an even bigger family than I first thought.

I'm realizing that the only thing better than finding the woman you want to love for the rest of your life is to stand next to her and be surrounded by friends who you love too. Yeah, the money is what I need to make a good proposal happen, but the friendships are what we both need to make a perfect marriage happen.

Getting ready for the first big day out on the streets.....excited about who I'm going to meet.....

So...How Is This Going To Work?

Ok, after much consultation with many of my closest roommates, the votes have been cast, and we have decided to pursue two methods for getting the money.

Option 1: ASK
This is probably where I will meet most of you. The first course of action will be to politely stand near a metro stop and just talk with anyone who cares to listen. I'm in love, and being in love usually makes one talkative. If anyone wants to support me that's great, but I really hope that through doing this I can bring some smiles to some faces and maybe even make some friends. I realize that most of the smiles will be at my expense, but I already have a beautiful girl, so who really cares! Heck, maybe one of these friends I make will actually have a good idea for how to make some money!

Option 2: BIKE TUNE-UPS
I used to be a bike mechanic. There are a lot of people on bikes in DC. Possibility. Bike shops charge a lot of money. I only need little bits of money. Improved possibility. I put up an add on the DC Craigslist Bicycle Sale section for bike tune-ups (Already have my first tune-ups scheduled for Wednesday!!!). At roughly 75% off shop price, I think it's a steal! Hopefully, you do too. Come on by Thursday 11/4 or Friday 11/5 from 6:30-8:30pm for a $25 tune-up. Everything a shop does for 1/4 the price. 320 E. Capitol St. NE.

The Predicament

Well, I've found her. I've found the woman I want to marry! She is wonderful in that every sort of way, and I want to give her something as romantic, adventurous, and beautiful as she is. I want to take her on an adventure. I want to do something beautiful. I want to giver her that quiet and peaceful sort of romantic where we are alone to enjoy being with each other. Most of all, I want to show her that I truly know and love her.

Crap....I don't think that's possible. What am I going to do? Propose to her underwater? That's adventurous yet peaceful I suppose. That's stupid. I could wait for Richard Branson to get his space tourism thing together...or do something cooler with those millions. Yeah, I'm screwed. Totally screwed. Nothing even remotely possible could give her something like that...

Or could it? Ok, so in chronological order, the decision to marry this woman actually came about a week and a half ago. A week ago, I set things in order with my Diamond Guy in Indiana for the ring, and yes, everyone always asks, but I do in fact have a Diamond Guy. I love having my own Diamond Guy. It sounds mysterious and maybe even a little less than legal. I assure you all that it is in fact legal, but I will continue to shrowd him in a thin veil of mystery...just for fun. Today, this very day, the plan for the perfect proposal came to me. I think I have come up with the PERFECT idea that is outrageous enough to be not quite possible, but possible enough that I am partially to fairly certain I can figure out how to make it work.

Since this is the internet, I feel like people will be offended if I slip in a long emotional narrative explaining all the reasons why my plan is perfect into this otherwise standard blog post. I'm sure as time goes on, I'll give more about why this is the only woman I could dream of being with and why I want to go to these places, but for now I'll leave it at one day, a private plane, a secluded beach, and a party with all of our friends upon our sunset return.

Now that I have formulated the final details for my perfect proposal plan and confirmed the pilot, plane, and venue are all available, my problem is how to pay for all of it. I am a significant amount of money away of being able to do all of this after buying her the perfect ring. This blog will chronicle my effort to involve you, my friends, in creating a perfect proposal for one incredibly special woman.
